life Of Food and Love: nature waterfalls in PA

It’s amazing what solitude can do to the human mind. Now, I don’t mean anything serious like solitary confinement but more like the solitude and peace of God’s beautiful nature. Spending just a few minutes up in the hills with me and my small family gave me time to reflect and just enjoy being alone with them! I watched as Cylas picked up rocks and hurled them into the small pools of water and then scream with delight as he watched them splash. Of course, me being the odd man out sitting on slabs of smooth rock like an out of place seal in the middle of the forest I was able to watch David’s parenting skills. Compared to the mother hawk I am, David tends to be more relaxed like the hippie version of a mother hawk…yeah, I know sounds silly. But, he just makes my heart palpitate with how close he lets Cylas get to things sometimes. So, sitting there watching them interact made my heart swell and realize how far I’ve come as an individual. Since having Cylas, I’ve come to the realization that parenting isn’t only about the child; it’s about the parent growing and overcoming so their child can follow a good example. There is nothing more character revealing than the well placed mirrors in our lives called children. Afterward, we stopped at a small ice cream/pizza/gas station depot. We ate some pizza ordered ice cream and played on the carousal before we headed home for the day.
Here is a mushroom that David tried to eat on our way out of the forest…well, he pretended to eat it. He wondered aloud if it were hallucinogenic or not. Those of you who know David…well, nuff said! Hahha
So, our weekend consisted of eating at David’s parents one day, the forest the next and tomorrow we will be starting on the playroom in the basement. David and his dad painted the walls and now David is going to paint a canvas with lions, tigers and bears in the bright happy colors of orange, yellow, red and a bit of brown. Sooo excited about that. I’ll be sure to post photos once it’s finished.
And yes, this is a picture of me in front of Target!! They just put one in thirty minutes away and I HAD to have my picture taken in front of one of my favorite stores!! Also, since they put a Starbucks in there that means Starbucks is now thirty minutes away instead of forty-five. (note: I don’t like Starbucks, but it shows how far out this place is that we live…hahah)
