  • Of Food And Love: Oooh – oh the sweetest thing! Sugar Cookies

So tonight, I decided we should make sugar cookies as a family! Quite the adventure, as I figured it was about time Cylas help with the mixing and making of these delicious cookies. He had a great time! Of course, as soon as he got a good grip on the spoon I had half mixed cookie dough on my face, arm, skirt and the floor was a mess! Maybe I should wait until he’s three…hahah. So, due to lack of cookie cutters we used empty glass jars to make our perfect little cookies. David started to get creative and made a couple of smiley face cookies. Cylas liked those the best. He would eat the face and leave the rest. We stayed up until 11 at night making the last of them. Cylas gave out around 10:45…
He did such a good job helping~ But, I think he got a sick tummy from sticking his finger in the dough and munching mouthfuls before it had a chance to become a REAL cookie.

    Here is the recipe!
    The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies
    — Allrecipes –

    1 1/2 cups butter, softened
    2 cups white sugar
    4 eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    5 cups all-purpose flour
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    1 teaspoon salt

In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight). Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely.

awwww…I made sugar cookies today too! Would have been a lot more fun to bake them with a little cutie to help! You make it look so fun to have kids! (Maybe in a few years! lol)
    Cookies look yummy!!!!!

that looks like you all had so much fun! Cylas looks like he really enjoyed himself:)
