So, much has happened over the new year’s holiday. Cy’s room got a face lift, Cy got a haircut, Roma turned six weeks and we had a huge winter storm. Ever since we moved here to this big, huge house I have been wanting to make it feel a little more like home. I enjoy simplicity in decorating and saw a few areas that could use my touch. Cylas’ room was one of those areas. We started on a Monday and finished it up on Tuesday around 12 in the morning. The result was just amazing. The walls now embrace the light coming in through his window and make the room so happy. Before, the paint would suck the ambient light out of the room and make it feel as though you needed a torch to see what you were doing. We rearranged everything and put in a new dresser. His train set is center stage and all his books and coloring materials are along the wall. He has sooo much fun. Maria was a tremendous help and we accomplished so much together. Maria was quite sneaky and took a video of us…thank goodness I didn’t say anything to embarrass myself because I had no clue she was recording..hahah.

Well, as the winter slid into full swing my sons hair took leave from any semblance of human form and grew into a lion-esque coif. He’s always been afraid of the scissors and hates to see locks of his hair on the ground. He cries and we wrestle as I try to quickly snip his hair…and it ends up looking awful with little patches of hair shorter in some places and longer in others. This last time I cut his hair he had half a mullet. I know it doesn’t seem possible but…if you could have seen it. So with the hair issue resolved I feel more confident when I take my child into public and I won’t hide his hair anymore.

So, the last adventure in this chapter would be about the huge snow we got a couple of days ago. It started in the middle of the night and continued until late the next evening. I think we got about 6-8 inches. David and went out shoveling and snow chucking for a while to make sure we could get out of the driveway. Hmmm, never thought I’d see this much snow.
Here’s a pic of me after I helped David to clear off the porch and driveway…

Wow, we really need one of those snow-blower things…but they’re like $1,000 here and we can’t find any to rent. (Poor Aydin is outside right now with an icepick, trying to get the snow off our sidewalk, because it’s all packed and we’re getting another 5 inches too!)
Living in the snow is so weird and different, isn’t it?

(Wow, I can’t believe how LONG your hair is now! It’s beautiful!)
Have fun, Mish! Love you and miss you!

Ahh I love all the pics. I’m glad the front room is looking a little better at my expense. I’m doing a little touch up to my room too. I’ll post the pics when I’m done.

I, too, want to comment on your hair! I was going to comment on the Cylas’ new bedroom, and then I saw your awesome hair!!! I always enjoy your updates.
