  • Sun Drought

Winter has it’s pluses…like snowing on Christmas day, skiing in the Poconos, sledding across fields and making snow men! But, after almost three months of no sunshine you start to feel a little weary. Here on the East coast we’ve had sub-zero weather and wind that makes your bones rattle. Only last week it was -10 and I thought I would never get warm again. But today, the sun is shining and it really brings a smile. I think my heart was happy too, because I felt like I could have another kid and not stress out…hahah. Yeah, the sun does something to you. So, this morning as we were getting ready for church David was dressing Roma, talking with her and he says, “look at how bright the sun is…there’s been a sun drought”. I had to laugh because it’s SO true even I’m turning a dark shade of white…
I can’t wait until the days turn warm again and I can’t see the veins through the skin on my hands and weekends are spent playing volleyball with our Mennonite friends and evenings are spent strumming the guitar around the campfire out back or tea cup in hand at the tables of our Russian comrades. And when the days warm up we’ll have lots of people over to try out the new recipes I’ve added to my cooking arsenal. Last night, for the first time ever I made homemade mac-n-cheese! I found the recipe in an Amish cookbook. It was SOooo delish-ious. I froze little sections of it so when Cylas is hungry I have little lunches for him. My next quick fix lunch will be taquitos. So much to look forward to and all of this thought sparked because a little bit of sunshine broke through our curtains today.
That’s a photo of two Amish buggies on their way home from church this morning…
