  • Of Food And Love: Friday! That’s amore!

Lately, I’ve realized that I might have a problem.  I really, really enjoy food.  Not just FOOD, though.  I mean good food.  You won’t catch me eating out for the fun of it, because I have a couple dollars to spare, but you will catch me scouring the market for new ingredients to make yummy, tummy food.  And no, I don’t think buying snails or tripe will ever be on my list of, how-can-I-cook-this…

One of the dishes that we love making around here is pizza!  It’s been so hard finding a place that makes pizza up to our standards.  It’s usually too greasy, bitter sauce, funky tasting crust, you name it.  Then I got the bright idea to just make our own.  I don’t go so far as to make my own crust.  I’ve already admitted my ability to bake is somewhere along the lines of horrible and God-awful.  So, I found the next best thing — Boboli.

Somehow, Friday night became “Pizza Night”.  It was a slow evolution but completely natural.  We make pizza and some type of sweet treat.  Tonight, it’s neon green rice krispie treats.  How we love our krispies.
D and I love fresh veggies on our pizza.  Nothing like the snap of a fresh green pepper.

And you know that weird rubbery sound mushrooms make as you cut them?  Yes, we love those, too.

And of course, little hands were helping, eating pieces of that soft mozzarella.

All I do is slice huge chunks and lay them out on the pizza.  Maybe I should shred it?  Maybe.  But I like the chunks, though.

We pile it all on…first Canadian bacon, then the peppers, followed by the mushrooms.

Baked on a steamy 450 for 8-10 minutes.

Sometimes, food is just good!  Oh, and don’t forget the mini cheese pizza for the babies…
Cylas just had to show it off.

Don’t be afraid to let your inner Italian go.   “When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie…that’s amore…“  Sing it loud, now!

Yum. Crust is actually very easy! Especially if you do a east free crust, its a piece of cake or pie I guess ;)

Crust is super easy even with yeast, but a healthy option is to use pita bread (unleavened bread). We use it all the time and you can get the smaller sizes and make your own and not have to share it :)
