  • We’re here! Cali-forn-IA

(yes, posting this a little late.  I wrote this the day after we arrived but never got around to sharing!)

I love the smells here.  Well, to a degree.  But, you know that feeling when you walk in the door of your house after a long trip and you take a deep breath….that’s what I’m talking about.  I took a deep breath when we stepped off the plane.  Perfect.

My kids slept four of the five and a half hours.  The other hour and a half was spent jumping around in the seat and infuriating old grumpy men.  Well, you can’t blame the guy, would you like a little rascally four year old grabbing at your legs?  God only knows how I missed this horrible plan etiquette of my son.  But he did pay for his sins.  He apologized to Mr. Grumpy Pants, sat on his bottom quietly and then promptly fell asleep.  That old man was lucky.

We arrived in Cali without incident.  Starving.  Tired.  Really upset that for the SECOND TIME this particular airlines has run out of food before it reached our row.  Seriously.  What plane forgets to cater the plane (for which we had to turn back on the runway and wait an additional 45 min for the food to be loaded) and then runs out of food three rows before it gets to us….  Bad.  Like NO bueno, bad.  Bless the soul of the man in front of me who offered up his can of lemon and pepper tuna so I could have something to eat.  My children were asleep and I was really praying they would be able to last off of the remaining crackers I had packed.  Very frustrating.  But before I could worry for too long the flight attendant approached me with a carton that someone had purchased but didn’t want.  Prayer answered.  Food for my babies.  Salami isn’t manna from heaven but it may as well of been.

And after we landed, it was In-N-Out, to which my son is now happily addicted and can spot that yellow arrow from miles off.  I’m proud.

This is the first post of many to come, we had an absolutely fabulous time and I can’t wait to share with you all!

It still sounds less stressful than one of your other trips to CA! I think it's time you changed airline though…

I totally agree. What a complete joke.
