    Memorial Day!

No camping this year.  Third year in a row we haven’t camped.  This year’s Memorial Day came up on us so quickly that our plans for the holiday changed a few times while we drove back to the house after church service.  Sunday afternoon, the day before, we were still trying to nail down what we wanted to do.  Finally, we decided to just cook out at our place.  Beautiful.

And this time, I made a list.  Honestly, don’t know why I’ve been begrudging list making lately.  It saved my bacon, my little list did.  This time around I didn’t forget to pull out and of the food items I made, or forget to MAKE any dishes that I had planned.  I had just enough of everything and it was all good.

I made a lot but not too much.
Tried a new recipe and fell in absolute love.  I will have to do a post on this one, guys…best pasta salad, super easy but not just your typical open-a-bottle-of-Italian dressing-and-call-it-a-day, salad.
    Steamed green beans with butter
And of course, our never failing shish-kabobs, Russian style.
Mashed potatoes, baked beans, homemade, healthy mac-n-cheese…
A little grilling.  My husband, master griller in this house, nails our bbq every time.  Perfectly cooked.  Winner.
A little swimming for the kids
A little scolding for Cylas, who couldn’t resist splashing water everywhere and in general being a little terror.
A big, huge bubble that scared Jesus out of my little two year old.
    Papa loves bubbles.
And braiding!  Made one of my Sunday school students endure some hair pulling until I came out with this fancy do.
I felt relaxed after the day was done.  My list had come through for me once again, the food was spot on, and the company fabulous.  Three cheers for a holiday success.
