  • First Day of School :: Kindergarten

    There are some moments in life that should never be forgotten.  Today is one of those days.

    The alarm went off at 6:15am.  I rolled out of bed and walked in Cy’s room to check on him.  6:30 comes too early.
    Around 6:45 he was up and making noises.  Finally, he joined me in the kitchen.  His knees were bobbing up and down and his little arms were moving like noodles.

    “Mom, I’m shaking cuz I’m so excited.”
    I smiled.  He really was shaking and it was because of his nerves.  He didn’t stop moving and shaking the whole morning.

    I made him his favorite breakfast and he ate every last piece.

    We went over his lunch and snack to make sure he knew that “L” was for lunch and “S” was for snack.
    He picked out his shirt, and decided it was time to go wait for the bus.
    But not before a little memory making with his buddy Pasha.  Pasha, who happens to have his big sister visiting from California and who Cylas was thoroughly convinced that big sister V was in fact Pasha’s girlfriend — not his sister.
    My little boy.
      Not so little…going places without me.
    Uhg.  I didn’t cry, but I have to admit that I had stalker thoughts…really, who would notice a huge van sitting outside the window and a fuzzy haired mother waving ecstatically?  No one, I’m sure.   Especially not the teacher or the other twenty students…or the security cameras.
    *sigh*  I will refrain.
    Train up a child…the thought that hasn’t left my mind since he stepped on the bus this morning.

    You're so brave to let Cy ride the bus on the first day of school!
    @David-thanks for representing :)
