  • Lunch Foodie: Rock ‘N Roll Smoothies

Ok, so this isn’t technically a lunch meal, but it can go with lunch!  Or you can make it your lunch…or breakfast or snack for that matter.

Cylas got a Junior Cookbook for Christmas this year from his mommy little sister.  He has been scouring it over since the moment he opened it.  We are on a mission to make which ever dishes he chooses, too.  Yesterday, we went shopping and picked up the ingredients for two recipes and these smoothies were one of them.

    Introducing your smoothie pieces:

Now, the recipe calls for strawberries but gives you the option to choose which ever fruit you fancy.  We like mixed berries.

Slice up the banana in chunks, drop in two cups of your frozen strawberries (or mixed berries)

…pour the milk and yogurt and turn on that blendy blender!

Cylas was giggling and laughing at all the berries swirling around in there.

Mmmm!  So easy and yummy.  This was our breakfast this morning.
serve with toast or your favorite cereal!

    makes 3 or 4 servings

    1 small ripe banana

2 cups frozen unsweetened whole strawberries

1 8-oz carton strawberry or vanilla low-fat yogurt

    3/4 cup milk

o1. Remove the peel from the banana and cut into chunks
o2. Put banana chunks, frozen strawberries, yogurt, and milk into the blender.
o3. Cover blender with the lid and blend on high speed until mixture is smooth.

And just like that you have a healthy breakfast … or lunch … or snack :)
