Of Food and Love: Easter 2012 Resurrection Sunday

Our weekend flew by and dragged all at the same time. There were parts when the time couldn’t move fast enough and then the end of the day would draw near and I’d think, “what? already?”.
My dad, his wife and my cousin came out. The kids love their ‘gyampa’ and Cylas has decided that Newton, is his best friend. I’m beyond happy that my children are getting a wonderful chance to develop a relationship with my dad before we move back.
Friday, we went to the park and the kids played their little hearts out. My cousin hit the skate park there and Cylas’ interest was peaked about all those skateboards, scooters and bikes. I think we’ll be going back so he can try his hand scooting around on the dips and swoops with all the big boys.
Saturday, around 11am, I started off toward town, on foot, for my long run. It ended up being a sunny, windy 8 miles and I loved it. Met the fam at the park for an Easter egg hunt, went to lunch and then headed back to the house. It was a relaxing day.
Sunday! This year, there were no new outfits, really, just recycled clothing for the kids (I had bought a new shirt a few days back, not even thinking of Easter, but that’s about it). I bought them a few things from Target (no baskets) and they were delighted. All in all, it was a pretty low key holiday weekend.
I didn’t cook a fabulously elaborate dinner. In fact, ours was very non-traditional and quite simple. I decided on Balsamic Chicken and Vegetables. What? No mashed potatoes, ham, or deviled eggs? Nope. But it was good, nonetheless.
Hope your Resurrection Sunday was enjoyable and delicious too!
