crafts Of Food and Love: family time things to do with your family

In my napsack stash
I’m not terribly creative when it comes to finding projects for my kids. But papa is. I’m usually the one running to the store to pick up huge bottles of glue, food coloring, hunting through my stash for yarn, possibly scraps of fabric, fabric paint…you get the point. And most times, I’m the cook, providing energy to my hard working little munchkins and their papa.
Oh, that papa…
Our children love the garden, yesterday they helped spread mulch and pull weeds. I’ve mentioned before that they are pretty weed savvy and know which ones to munch and which ones to avoid. Now that it’s spring, our mint has sprouted up and with a vengance. If there was an herb more easier to grow than mint, I would be surprised. Last year, it was really out of hand so we *weeded* it. Omygosh. It’s paying us back this year by coming in places that it was never planted!
But, we do love our fresh mint tea. D makes it and he’s very good.
There’s nothing like a good picnic. I’m sure if we lived in a climate where it was moderately warm all the time, we would never eat indoors. Even if the wind is close to a gale, Cylas begs to sit on the porch and eat.
The other day papa pulled out the oldest, coolest trick in the book: the telephone.
Cy was amazed! How cool to hear his papa’s voice traveling down the piece of yarn, right into his ear!
It doesn’t take much to make family memories around here. Give us some dirt, a few plants, some yarn and a couple of pieces of wood and we’re good to go.
