Of Food and Love: David's graduation

I actually have no idea what song they played, but Roma sure enjoyed it. She danced on those plastic chairs like a fairy princess.
Two weeks ago my husband graduated with his B.S in Accounting, Cum Laude, and I literally wept for joy. Not even kidding. It was a bit surreal. I mean, after waiting 4 years for something to happen and it’s all over in two hours, seems a little quick and underdone. Actually, it felt like forever and I was overcooked. It was hot out!
For two or three days after I was in a bit of a daze, so was D. We couldn’t believe he was finished. My university widow days were over in a matter of a couple hours. Cheers!
Even though it was his graduation it was almost cathartic for me. That part of my life was over. Over. I don’t have to relive another day of it ever again. My new life started the moment they handed him his diploma. What adventures are in store, I have no clue, but I’m pretty sure I can handle just about anything at this point.
And truth be told, this would never would have been possible if it weren’t for his parents. Thank you, thank you, thank you for everything. When the ceremony was over and D’s dad gave him a hug I overheard him say, “This is why we moved to America, so you could have a better life.” I almost cried right there. Actually, I did choke up a little. They gave their boy a new life and me the most amazing man.
He graduated. He got hired on at a local accounting firm and now, the next step is for him to sit for his CPA next year. I am SO proud of him.
Love you, dear…
