I think this was our first legit family vacay. It wasn’t just an over nighter, or even two nights. It was five nights and six days of fun, relaxation and laughter.
Our good friends M & J invited us up to their family’s summer home in Chautauqua, New York. Three stories, plus a basement, gave us plenty of room. Between the two of us we had six kids.
We cooked, baked, played on the beach, went for walks, runs, even sailed. Their whole family, because eventually grandma and grandpa showed up too, was so inviting.
You know, there are just some people in life that you connect with and feel comfortable. We can def say this about M & J.
Besides going sailing…
getting sand in every crevice imaginable…
making the most amazing pizzas
I think the part that warmed my heart, unforgettably so, was listening to the grandmother and grandfather play the piano. It was so peaceful. The kids responded so well, playing quietly or just sitting in the chairs staring out the windows. Pretty much nothing like it, honestly.
Truthfully, I could write a small novella about our trip, but I don’t want to overload you all. Hopefully, you can get a feel for the time we had through my photos.
*sigh* I can’t wait to go back.
