Of Food And Love: Grandma comes to town!

It was a year since I saw my mom last, at least.  Time moves in such a way that it quickly drags by.  I lose track.

But it was nice to have my mom and brother visiting with us.  Everyone needs their mom

We went camping and hiking.

We went to Penn’s Cave.

There was shopping and eating at the kids’ all time favorite, Subway.

Gyemma made her special tea, which Cylas named, “Sweet Leaf Tea”, for the kids.

Church and more food.

And, she sewed.  I haven’t seen my mother sew in years.  While she was here she hemmed, constructed, made and altered all sorts of things!  It was really, really nice to see my mom doing something she hasn’t done in years.  Decades, even.

This whole trip was cathartic for me.  My dad was able to visit too.  My children got to see *my* mom and dad.  They were able to be a part of who made me.  For me, that was amazing.  And the fact that my parents get along warms my soul.

I’m so grateful my parents love me and support me, that’s all anyone needs in life.  Love and support.  So many special memories were made on this visit, I’m sure that during the year when I’m missing home I’ll think back to this time, smile and remember the love and joy I felt.
